Chapter 4: Noninstruction Expenditures

In FY 90, noninstruction expenditures were $12.6 billion (table 13.a). By FY 02, they had risen to $15.4 billion, an increase of $2.8 billion, or 22 percent (table 13.b). Noninstruction expenditures per pupil were $311 in FY 90 and $322 in FY 02 (table 13.c.), an increase of $11 per pupil, or 4 percent (table 13.d). In FY 90, noninstruction expenditures accounted for 5 percent of current expenditures (table 13.e). In FY 02, noninstruction expenditures accounted for 4 percent of current expenditures.
