1 Includes regular and other diplomas as well as other completers, but does not include high school equivalencies (e.g., GEDs). Total completers may be different than reported in the CCD state-level file.
2 Averaged freshman graduation rate (AFGR) is an estimate of the percentage of an entering freshman class graduating in four years. For 2002–03, it equals the total number of high school diploma recipients in 2002–03 divided by the average membership of the 8th-grade class in 1998–98, the 9th-grade class in 1999–2000, and the 10th-grade class in 2000–01.
NOTE: The universe for this table includes all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, four outlying areas (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Marianas, and the U.S. Virgin Islands), the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Department of Defense schools. High school completers for each year are reported on the following year's agency file (e.g., 2002–03 completers are reported on the 2003–04 agency file).
SOURCE: Data are reported by states to the U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics, Common Core of Data (CCD), "Local Education Agency Universe Survey," 2003–04, Version 1b.
