In Arizona, a student's score on an assessment may not be used as a factor in determining a student's grade for school years 201415 and 201516.
Beginning in the 201516 school year, Colorado will administer a state assessment in ELA and a state assessment in math in grade 9 only.
Districts have been given the flexibility to choose one of three possible assessment combinations: ELA/Literacy I and Algebra I/Integrated Mathematics I; ELA/Literacy II and Geometry/Integrated Mathematics II; or ELA/Literacy III and Algebra II/Integrated Mathematics III.
In Kentucky, KYOTE and COMPASS are administered to select students in grade 12 who did not achieve the college-ready benchmarks.
New Jersey students who are in grade 11 and take Advanced Placement English tests or International Baccalaureate English tests in grade 11 will be exempt from PARCC English 11 EOC.
For students who entered grade 9 in 2011 or thereafter, all students must take and pass five Regents exams in ELA, mathematics, social studies, and science. For ELA, all students first entering Grade 9 in the 201314 school year or thereafter must be provided with a high school English course of study aligned to the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS) and pass the new Regents exam in ELA (Common Core) to meet graduation requirements. All students who first entered Grade 9 prior to the 201314 school year may meet the requirements for graduation by enrolling in Common Core English courses and passing the new Regents exam in ELA (Common Core) or enrolling in English courses aligned to the 2005 Learning Standards and passing the Regents Comprehensive Exam in English (2005 Learning Standards), while that exam is still being offered. For mathematics, any student who in the 201314 school year or thereafter, regardless of grade of enrollment, begins his or her first commencement-level mathematics course culminating in a Regents Exam in June 2014 or thereafter must take the New York State CCLS mathematics Regents Exam that corresponds to that course, as available, and be provided with Common Core instruction. Most typically, this first course will be Algebra I (Common Core). Those students who began or will complete an Integrated Algebra, Geometry, or Algebra 2/Trigonometry course prior to the 201314 school year must take the corresponding Regents exams aligned to the mathematics core curriculum (revised 2005), while those examinations are still being offered.
Students in Oklahoma need to pass Algebra I, English II, and a combination of two of the following: Algebra II, Biology I, English III, and U.S. History.
The state did not make an award to a vendor for high school assessments. Reports indicate that the South Carolina legislature could intervene in 2016 to select an assessment, which could be SAT or ACT or a continuation of already-administered EOCs.
NOTE: In this table, EOC represents End-of-Course assessments and PARCC is the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers.
