Please select from the drop down menus below to create an instance query. An instance query returns specific element uses or instances based on the specified criteria from the Handbooks Online database. For further instructions on how to perform this search, please scroll to the bottom of this page.

Step 1: Choose a "Search Field" from the drop down menu on the left. Search fields are characteristics of element instances in the Handbooks. The choices that are listed in ALL CAPS will provide you with a pick list of the item (e.g., Entity, Element, Option Set). A "Combined Search Fields" search will look in any of the following fields for an occurrence of the value that has been entered: Option Name, Entity Name, Option Set Name, Element Name, Element Definition.
Step 2: Select a "Search Operator", for example, "equals, starts with, or contains," to designate the type of search.
Step 3: Select the "Search Item" or enter a "Value" on which to search.
Step 4: If needed, repeat Steps 1-3 with the other rows provided to focus your query.
Step 5: Click on either the "Run Query" button or the "Get CSV" button when you are ready for your search results listing.
Step 6: Click on the "Start Over" button to clear all fields.
