1 Constant dollars based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), prepared by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, adjusted to a school-year basis. The CPI does not account for differences in inflation rates from state to state.
NOTE: Expenditures for state administration are excluded in all years except 1969-70 and 1979-80. Beginning in 1989-90, survey was expanded and coverage of state expenditures for public school districts was improved. Some data have been revised from previously published figures.
