‡ Did not meet reporting standard.
\1\First-professional includes chiropractic medicine, medicine, dentistry, optometry, osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, podiatry, and veterinary medicine.
\2\Disabled students are those who reported that they had one or more of the following conditions: a specific learning disability, a visual handicap, hard of hearing, deafness, a speech disability, an orthopedic handicap, or a health impairment.

NOTE: The estimates reported in this table are not directly comparable to previously reported data. Due to changes in 1999-2000 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS) survey items, the percentage of students indicating some sort of disability is substantially higher than those indicating a disability in prior years, when a much shorter and different set of questions was asked. Detail may not sum to totals due to survey item nonresponse and rounding.
