Secondary schools are defined as schools in which the lowest grade is greater than or equal to grade 7. Combined schools are included in totals, but are not shown separately. 4 The public sector includes public, public charter, and Bureau of Indian Education school teachers. 5 Substantial improvements in geocoding technology and changes in the Office of Management and Budget’s definition of metropolitan and nonmetropolitan areas allow for more precision in describing an area. Comparisons with earlier years are not possible. NOTE: Teachers who taught only prekindergarten students are excluded.
