Major Findings

  • At grade 4, both White and Black students had higher average scores in 2001 than in 1994, while apparent gains among other racial/ethnic groups were not statistically significant.

  • At grade 8, White students showed a significant gain since 1994.

  • At grade 12, Hispanic students showed a significant gain since 1994.
