All of the NAEP assessments include a questionnaire component that was designed to help provide a context for student performance. The TEL questionnaires gave researchers and others a better understanding of students’ opportunities to learn about technology both inside and outside the classroom. They also helped provide more insight into how students interact with technology to solve problems, communicate with others, and learn more about the world around them. The questionnaires included questions on demographics as well as TEL-specific questions about students’ experiences with technology.
For an overview of the TEL framework, see the 2014 Abridged Technology and Engineering Literacy Framework (2.21 MB).
