Storage of Assessment Materials

After batches of image-scanned documents have successfully passed the editing process, they are sent to the warehouse for storage. Documents are stored according to the batch and stack number in which they are processed. The storage locations of all documents by batch and stack number are recorded in the Work Flow Management System.

Unused materials are sent to temporary storage to await completion of the entire assessment. Once the assessment is complete, materials-processing staff receive authorization from NCES to salvage unused materials after determining that a sufficient quantity of each form type is retained in a permanent archive. Used student booklets are stored for 18 months before being shredded at a secure facility.
