In 2003, large-print booklets, bilingual booklets, and the accommodation in which the text of mathematics items were read aloud to the student were available for students who were identified by school officials as needing these accommodations. Five grade 4 and grade 8 mathematics booklets were designated as read aloud accommodation booklets. One grade 4 mathematics and reading booklet and one grade 8 reading booklet was identified as a large-print booklet. One mathematics booklet at each grade (4 and 8) was identified and used to create the bilingual booklets.
These booklet types were given unique identification bar code numbers separate from the booklets used for regular testing. They were then packaged to be shipped to NAEP assessment administrators.

NOTE: In 2003, mathematics and reading were assessed. Mathematics booklets appear in this table, but reading booklets do not. The reading assessment's goal is to measure how well students can read so the read aloud accommodation is not made available for this subject area.
