NAEP assesses students in grades 4, 8, and 12, though the NAEP assessment schedule does not call for all grades to be assessed each year. Prior to 2002, national main assessments were conducted during the 12 weeks from early January through late March. Future NAEP assessments may include foreign language or world history.
