The bridging sample, which was comprised of linking and reconfigured samples, was used to convert the standard NAEP booklet design that had been used in the 2000 assessment to the new design planned for use during the 2003 assessment. The bridging sample results were not reported.
NOTE: The arrowheads point to samples for which assessment results were already in the NAEP reporting metric in preparation for the 2009 mathematics assessment. The Mathematics Framework for the 2009 National Assessment of Educational Progress at grade 12 replaces previous frameworks. Results from special analyses determined the 2009 mathematics assessment results could be compared with those from earlier assessment years.
