This slide displays an animation of the NDE welcome screen that transforms into the Quick Start criteria selection screen, which zooms in for a close-up.
The NAEP Data Explorer accesses a wide variety of data about what students know and can do, and demographic factors that may affect their performance. The process to obtain this information is called a data query.

This slide displays an animation of the Go to Quick Start button that fades into the Quick Start criteria selection screen. This screen then fades into a screenshot of the View Results page.
Quick Start queries access only the most commonly used data and involve only the simplest features. You begin by selecting criteria on the first page, then go to results on the second page, where you can format them.

This slide displays a series of screenshots of pages seen in conducting an Advanced query. Those pages are the Advanced Select Criteria, Choose Year, Format Table, and Results pages.
Advanced queries have access to more sophisticated features and the full set of NAEP data. These queries also begin with selecting criteria, but can use search and display features to navigate the list of variables. Data can be specified by year on the Choose Year page, and more complex tables can be created and formatted on the Format Table page. Data are viewed on the Go to Results page.
