State Results for the NAEP 2003 Mathematics Assessment

The NAEP 2003 mathematics assessment was administered to representative samples of fourth- and eighth-graders in participating states and other jurisdictions. NAEP began state-by-state mathematics assessments in 1992 with fourth-graders, and with eighth-graders in 1990.

In 2003, 50 states and 3 jurisdictions at grade 4 and grade 8 participated in the mathematics assessment and met student and school participation criteria for reporting results. For more information about the NAEP state assessment, read Interpreting NAEP Mathematics Results.
