Major Findings

  • Forty percent of fourth-graders and 74 percent of eighth-graders correctly identified the state of Florida as a peninsula.
  • When asked to explain the importance of countries joining international organizations such as the United Nations, 34 percent of fourth-graders and 60 percent of eighth-graders chose the correct answer. The correct answer is, "Many of the world's problems involve more than one country."
