Racial/Ethnic Gaps in Average Scale Scores Across Years

Major Findings

  • At grade 4, there was a statistically significant narrowing of the score gap between White students and Black students between 1994 and 2001.
  • At grades 8 and 12, any apparent changes in score gaps between White and Black students and between White and Hispanic students were not statistically significant.
