National geography scale score percentiles, grades 4, 8, and 12 (public and nonpublic schools combined): 1994 and 2001

The following display of scores at different percentiles on the 0-to-500 scale at each grade indicates whether or not the few changes seen in the national average geography score results are reflected in the performance of higher-, middle-, and lower-performing students. Scores at the 90th, 75th, 50th, 25th, and 10th percentiles are shown for each grade in 1994 and 2001.

Major Findings

  • At grades 4 and 8, scores at the lower percentiles (10th and 25th) were higher in 2001 than in 1994.

  • At grade 12, none of the apparent differences in percentile scores was statistically significant.
