Major Finding

• In the 2001 accommodations-permitted national sample, 4 percent at grades 4 and 8, and 2 percent at grade 12 were excluded from the assessment. The comparison with the accommodations-not-permitted sample suggests that adding accommodations did help to decrease the percentage of students excluded from the assessment.
