Scoring a Visual Arts Creating TaskFor the Whisper Box task, students' works were scored with a four-level holistic scoring guide that allowed for two levels of partial credit. The guide asked raters to assign scores to packages based on how well, overall, each package dealt with two challenges. The first was communication: in other words, how well students used colors, images, and typeface to convey a whisper or scream. The second was dimensionality, and referred to how well students unified and integrated their designs with type, shape, and color on the three-dimensional surface of the box. Sample Guide
