Below is a sample document task and its corresponding bill stimulus material. The respondent must use text search skills to locate the answer—“4268.85”—with the aid of a facilitator (i.e., repetition of key terms “gross pay” and “year-to-date” in the instructions and in the stimulus material) while not getting distracted by an inhibitor like “net pay,” which is similar in lexical form to “gross pay.”
