This Week in IPEDS  July 6, 2009

Dear Keyholder: Do you work with your financial aid office to report financial aid or other data to IPEDS? Would you like your financial aid officers to know more about IPEDS or the changes to IPEDS due to the Higher Education Opportunity Act? Please help us in getting the word out to financial aid administrators about the following sessions that NCES will be conducting at the upcoming annual meeting of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) in San Antonio, July 12-14:

Monday, July 13, 10:45 am - 12:00 pm Net Price Data Reporting Requirements in HEOA: Data Requirement and Price Calculation
Room 214 C
The recent Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) includes new provisions related to net price that require institutions to report data to IPEDS for calculating the average institutional net price for first-time, full-time students and the net price for Title IV aid recipients by income categories. Institutions must also make available a net price calculator on their websites by August 2011. NASFAA and the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) continue to work together in their joint efforts to improve information on financial aid and the cost of college. An NCES official will detail the new requirements, and a panel of financial aid administrators and institutional researchers will discuss the plans for and challenges in meeting them. Presenters: Robert Collins, Vice President, Student Financial Aid, University of Phoenix Central Administration; Mary Ann Coughlin, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, Springfield College; Lefter Daku, Associate Director, Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University; Albert Hermsen, Director, Wayne State University; Elise Miller, Program Director, Postsecondary Institutional Studies Program, U.S. Department of Education; Mary Sapp, Assistant Vice President, Planning & Institutional Research, University of Miami
