Winter 2008 Forum Meeting Planning
Steering Committee members felt that the draft agenda looked good. Several topics for general or joint sessions at the Winter 2008 Meeting were suggested. Members asked staff to explore the following:
Request to Join the Forum
The Northeast & Islands Regional Educational Laboratory (NEIREL), one of the IES sponsored regional education labs, has asked to join the Forum. The Steering Committee agreed to pass the request on to the full Forum for a vote.
Longitudinal Data Systems at EIMAC
Bruce Dacey updated Steering Committee members on the EIMAC Longitudinal Data System (LDS) initiative. Among other activities, EIMAC and CCSSO will ask chief state school officers to: 1) Develop a core set of questions that should be addressed by a longitudinal data system (i.e., what information the chiefs wish to access through an LDS); 2) Estimate what resources are required to sustain an LDS over time; and 3) Establish a vision for e-record and e-transcript exchange.
