Building an Education Portal for Rhode Island
Collaborating with the local education agencies (LEAs), the proposed project will develop an education portal for the Rhode Island State Department of Education (RIDE) to facilitate information exchange and processes and to support the State’s strategic goal of enhancing local capacity to improve teaching and learning and sustain an effective accountability system.
The proposed Web-based education portal will greatly enhance the State’s education information system to meet the accountability mandates of NCLB and the State’s strategic goal. It will dramatically improve the efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of data collected by the State and then reported to the U.S. Department of Education, in particular the Common Core Data (CCD), the Performance Based Data Management Initiative (PBDMI) system and other federal agencies. Other States may benefit from this project by sharing the technology and more importantly our innovative ways to engage users in information exchange and processes.
