Oregon FY 2002
Task Order: $50,000
Extend Assessment Collection System (Component of Secure Student ID System) to Include Students with Disabilities

The Oregon Department of Education received task order funding to augment their current system of correlating Secure Student Identifications (SSID) with their Assessment Collection System. The system allows schools to report student information over the Internet, but students can be left out of data collection for SSID and thus be left out of testing. This is a particular concern among students with disabilities, and the task order funds were used to develop a component of the SSID Assessment Collection that would accommodate the unique circumstances of special education students within their district student information systems.

The benefits of this new system include:

  • Improved registration and participation of students with disabilities in both the SSID system and Assessment Collections
  • Increased participation of students with disabilities in Oregon’s statewide assessment system
  • Increased accuracy in reporting on the performance of all students, including students with disabilities, in Oregon’s report card and school improvement reports

Work on this project was scheduled to begin in Winter 2001 and conclude by Fall 2002.

Oregon FY 2000
Task Order: $60,000
Establishing an On-line District and Student Level Registration for State Testing and Pre-coding

The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) received task order funding to develop an operational, on-line district and student demographic registration system with an integrated process for pre-coding test answer sheets. The project would help Oregon a great deal in responding to requests for information regarding student achievement and educational accountability. The main products of this project would be a users manual for district and student demographic registration, a demonstration of the on-line web page and user interface, a report on the results of the pilot study, a web page with on-line registration, and a process for pre-coding test answer sheets.

The major activities for this project were:

  • Developing an on-line district assessment registration
  • Developing an on-line student demographic registration
  • Establishing a process for pre-coding test answer sheets using demographic registration information
  • Building a testing web page to automate data collection and data clean-up
  • Employing a direct approach and focus group process to coordinate with Oregon districts regarding development and implementation of the on-line systems

Work on this project was scheduled to begin in November 1999 and conclude by January 2001.
