Mississippi FY 2000
Task Order: $50,000
MSIS Preparation Training: Automation Grant Proposal

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) received task order funding to help in a statewide initiative to develop a statewide comprehensive student and teacher information system. The Mississippi Student Information System (MSIS) would, when implemented, become the major source for all K-12 data and both state and federal reporting. Task order funding would be used to provide training to MDE staff who will be responsible for maintaining this system and reporting data to the state legislature, NCES, CCSSO, and others. Technical and end-user training would relate to Oracle application developer modules, which would allow MDE to develop custom reports and information for required reporting formats such as CCD, CCSSO Math/Science Indicators, and the American Federation of Teachers annual salary survey.

The major task to be accomplished was to provide training to the staff who would be responsible for maintaining and accessing MSIS on a daily basis. The training would include systems and networking, systems development, database administrator, statistical staff, and end-users. The beginning date was January 2000 and the ending date was scheduled for September 2000.
