FY 2002

Missouri FY 2002
Task Order: $80,000
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, State of Missouri, Reporting of School Data

The state of Missouri received task order funding to streamline the collection and review of education data, provide upfront error processing to enable districts to correct errors before data submission, and provide facilities to allow districts to make their own updates and provide an automated audit train of changes. This project would focus around moving the existing data collection system from a VSE mainframe system to a new Unix AIX based platform by piloting new technology with Web based pages for the collection of data. When completed, this project would improve the quality of data reported to federal agencies, ease the school payments process, and reduce the amount of manual error checking and data entry performed by staff.

The objectives of the project were:

  • Collection of data via the web
  • Increased editing and error processing to reduce the data errors to increase data accuracy
  • Reduction of data entry by DESE personnel
  • Production of standardized reports
  • Providing of data for ad-hoc reporting for school districts
  • Allowing direct access to data provided for approved entities

Work on this project was scheduled to begin in November 2001 and conclude by July 2002.
