Leaving No One Behind: Ensuring Quality Data Drives Decision-Making
The State of Kentucky recently began development of an interagency education data enterprise system. The goals of the system are to collect data once and at the source, to reduce the reporting burden on local school districts, and to provide accurate and timely data for decision-making. This success of this system relies heavily on providing accurate data, and this task order proposes to develop standards and procedures to ensure data accuracy at the school, district, and state level.
In order to ensure data accuracy, a handbook will be created that provides information about the importance of data quality, as well as methods to ensure data quality. Data quality training and audit procedures will also be included in this handbook, which will be an active document that is constantly reworked. The document itself will be the major final deliverable and will be a very useful tool not only to local school districts and the Kentucky Department of Education, but also to partner agencies and other state departments of education.
