Data Notes/Grant IDs

The information on this locator is from the Common Core of Data (CCD) for the 2005-06 school year. This data is collected annually directly from State Education Agencies (SEAs). A list of all the State CCD Coordinators and their contact information is avaiable on our website.

Finding a School or District's NCES ID Code:
You can find a school or district ID code by using the locator. The easiest way to do this is by typing in the city, state, and the first word from the school name. The NCES School ID is a 12 digit code, the first 7 digits of this code are the NCES District ID. The data on the locator are from the 2005-06 school year. There is a list of new schools and new districts from those states that have submitted their 2006-07 data to NCES.

If you can not find your school or district on the locator (and it was in existence in the 2005-06 school year) you can send an email to john.sietsema@ed.gov who will check the database for the school or district. If you think the data about your school or district is incorrect you should contact your state CCD Coordinator.
