The Principal Follow-up Survey (PFS) was sent during the 2008–09 school year to all schools that had a principal who responded to the 2007–08 SASS Principal Questionnaire. The Public Principal Status Form was sent to traditional public, public charter, and Bureau of Indian Education-funded schools whose principal had completed an interview in the 2007–08 SASS. The Private School Head/Principal Status Form was sent to all private schools whose principal had completed an interview in the 2007–08 SASS. There is one additional response category that was asked only in nonresponse follow-up by telephone, and that version appears in the PFS Restricted-Use Documentation report. The additional category allows the school to report a former principal’s status as having left the school, but with unknown mover or leaver status.
The Principal Follow-up Survey collected data on: occupational status in the 2008–09 school year for the SASS principal and a confirmation of the principal’s name (not included on the SASS principal data file).
